A workplace designed to be experienced
Sheldon Interiors’ new head office is more than a place of work — it’s a living showcase of their internal capabilities, values and design philosophy. Conceived as both a functional workplace for staff and an immersive environment for clients, the space brings together Sheldon’s workplace aspirations with hands-on demonstrations of what’s possible when strategy, sustainability and design expertise align.
At every turn, the office invites exploration. Clients are encouraged to experience materials, light, acoustics and spatial planning in real time, offering a tangible reference for how considered design decisions translate into high-performing, human-centred workplaces.
Designed for wellness and sustainability
Targeting 5 Star Green Star and Gold WELL ratings, the design of Sheldon’s head office was guided by rigorous sustainability and wellness benchmarks. In collaboration with external consultants, these accreditations informed material choices, systems integration and spatial planning — ensuring the workplace supports both environmental responsibility and occupant wellbeing.
Key initiatives include:
- Multisensory design integration throughout the workplace

- Circadian rhythm lighting across the work floor
- Joinery designed for full disassembly and future reuse
- Materials selected to meet embodied carbon targets
- Ergonomic furniture to support daily comfort and productivity
- Modular elements, including all timber workstations
- Continuous air quality monitoring for temperature and humidity
- Energy-efficient lighting paired with sensor systems
Together, these elements create an environment that feels intuitive, comfortable and adaptable — designed not just for today, but for longevity.
The Design Workshop: a space for collaboration
At the heart of the office sits the Design Workshop — a multifunctional zone dedicated to hands-on client engagement. This space showcases Sheldon’s internal divisions through interactive displays and material-led storytelling, allowing ideas to be explored collaboratively.
Anchored by a natural stone display wall, the workshop also features an interactive lighting display and a custom-designed central island that houses project boards. The result is a seamless, highly functional environment where materials, finishes and concepts can be tested and refined in real time.
Custom About Space Zod Wall Lights are integrated throughout the workshop in a range of colour temperatures, enabling an interactive lighting experience. By adjusting Kelvin outputs, clients can see how different materials respond under varied light conditions — ensuring design decisions consider not only form and finish, but how spaces will truly feel once illuminated.
Lighting as a design tool
Lighting plays a pivotal role across Sheldon’s head office, supporting wellness outcomes while elevating the material palette. From circadian systems on the work floor to feature lighting within collaborative zones, illumination is used as both a functional necessity and a design instrument — shaping mood, clarity and experience.
The result is a workplace that doesn’t just demonstrate Sheldon Interiors’ expertise — it embodies it. A space where sustainability, wellbeing and design innovation come together, offering clients inspiration grounded in real-world application.
